Today I spent half of it as a volunteer fence judge at a local pony club event, ably assisted by my middle EN sproglet. It was really a rather lovely way to spend an afternoon; watching people (in the main) having fun with their horses, and the horses having a ball too. There were a few disasters as there always are, including riders who clearly didn’t walk the course before hand getting lost, and a couple who in the excitement of it all managed to completely miss a jump altogether, but on the whole everyone seemed to enjoy it.
Afterwards I hotfooted it down to the yard and borrowed the kids pony to ride out with a friend. After a difficult week at work I just needed a blast, and he was more than willing to assist. We had a fabulous gallop through the fields which left me with a huge grin on my face.
Exhausted now after all that plus a couple of hours of (gentle – due to neck injury) karate this morning so going to head off to meditate, and then on to bed.
