Happiness!

It’s been a long time since I last posted, I’m not sure why, probably just because I have a crazy hectic life, and struggle to book time to scratch my own backside mostly, let alone write blogs.  However, I have recently started reading a book which has started me wanting to blog again.  It’s this one :

And I’m loving it!  So far I’ve committed to the following :

  • 2 x minutes of meditation every day – before bed.
  • 20 minutes of writing about something positive from that day (this is my positive post for today!)
  • 3 x 30 minute walks per week – this fits in nicely with a program on the BBC which I recently watched and found absolutely fascinating; ‘How to Stay Young’ with Angela Rippon and Dr. Chris van Tulleken, which extolled the benefits of exercise on the brain, along with Purple Sweet Potatoes, constant learning, and a lack of stress – watch it on catch up, you won’t regret it!
  • 5 x random acts of kindness.

I’m concerned about how to fit this all in on top of everything else, but I’m sure it can be done with some nifty organisation skills.  So, I’m going to record the outcome of this commitment in this ‘ere blog.

Today has been the first day, and it’s gone rather well.  I’ve just come back from a lovely walk with Mr. EN, and my random act of kindness was to not park my bike in my bosses preferred spot, but instead moved to a different one, which pleased him enormously.  It back fired somewhat when I came out to find a bird obviously hadn’t registered my good deed, and had poo’d on my bike seat, obviously mistaking it for his….

My positive for the day, other than the fact that I’ve made this quite momentous decision to follow a path of Happiness, is actually two fold.  The first is that when I arrived at the stables this morning to turn the ponies out, my mare was laying down in the stable, and allowed me in to give her some early morning cuddles before work.  It takes a lot of trust for a horse to do this, so I felt very touched.

I rode in as usual from the yard to work, and it was a beautiful sunny, if rather cold day.

I love biking to work as I get in feeling refreshed and energised (unless it’s pissing with rain so I get in feeling cold, soggy and cross).  The second (or maybe third if you count my good bike ride!) positive is that today I had one of my first green smoothies of the year to see me through the morning.  It was delicious!!  It contained :

  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 banana
  • 2 x kiwis
  • 5 x mint leaves
  • Coconut milk to cover

Nom nom nom.

Right, off to do 2 minutes of meditation and then bed.
